5 Ways You Can Contribute To A Child’s Education

Education is an integral part of any society, and it is only fitting to celebrate the day it was made an official part of society. In India, the seeds of the education system as we know it today were sown when Maulana Abul Kalam Azad became the first Education Minister of independent India, serving in the position from 1947 to 1958. The step initiated great reforms in the way children and adults in India were given access to educational resources.

The education system back then was slightly less inclusive, prioritizing the education of males over females. However, revolutionaries and leaders with rational thoughts strived to make education a unisex concept, demanding equal rights for all. And the result of that can be seen clearly now — from going to space to an incredible number of female academics and scholars. And it has all been made possible due to education!

However, there are still a few sections of society that are bereft of this crucial requirement. Here are a few ways in which you can make a difference:

1. Free lessons for the underprivileged

The literacy rate in India has been recorded at 77.7%, as per the NSO consensus. While it has increased significantly over the years, the poor are still among those with no means of gaining an education. You can help alleviate this scenario by regularly conducting free lessons for the poor children and adults in your neighbourhood. Simply set up a temporary classroom and start by teaching them the basics. In time, you can collaborate with other volunteers and hold daily classes as well.

2. Sponsor a child

Another way you can make a difference is by sponsoring the entire education of a child. There are many platforms that you can choose from, and you can even choose whether you want to support an abled or a disabled child or sponsor their meals so they can get an education while staying healthy and full.

3. Donate to fundraisers and campaigns

If it seems improbable for you to keep contributing regularly and so you only want to contribute to specific causes, you can make one-time donations to fundraisers and campaigns. You can find a few at Donatekart, such as helping with school supplies, or even for the construction of schools. Donatekart will deliver all the products directly to the NGOs or the students, and you can be assured your contribution will be put to good use.

4. Donate your books rather than throwing them away

Schoolbooks are a crucial resource for any student, and they can be expensive for the underprivileged. So, rather than throwing away your old books in the garbage or selling them to the raddiwala, you can look for NGOs or local volunteers in need of such textbooks. This is a win-win solution — you can supply them with books every year after your child’s school year has ended and ensure that there is space for you to store the textbooks for the new term safely!

5. Volunteer at NGOs

If you cannot do any of the above or want to do even more, you can volunteer with the many educational NGOs in India. Not only will you get the satisfaction of having played a part in the country’s educational development, but you can also bring light to the lives of so many children.
