“Love Has A Language Of Its Own And These Animals Are Living Proof Of That”

People often tell me that I am wasting my time on these animals who are suffering from terminal illnesses or are old and would never get any better. There was a time when I tried to make them understand that to me they are sentient beings and deserve love and affection but now I don’t do that. I have accepted that despite every kind of opposition I get, I will continue to work for these voiceless creatures.

Since my childhood, I have always wanted to do something for the animals in need. But financial constraints came in the way. I used to have 30–35 rescued dogs at home but neighbours started complaining about the noise. It was then that I finally decided to open a shelter with help from many other animal-lovers.

These animals come to me in horrible states. Some have been victims of animal cruelty while others have been abandoned by their owners because they had some problems. I am their last hope and I want to do everything for them.

Love has a language of its own and it surpasses everything. These animals are living proof of that. When I feed them, caress them — the happiness that I see in their eyes that makes all the effort worth it.

I have always come across people who abandon their pets but the pandemic has increased the number. Some call me and request me to take them, citing financial problems but there are also those who leave these animals outside my shelter in bags! I welcome all of them with open arms. I try my best to give them a better life.

They have given a purpose to my life and I will fight for them as long as I am alive.
