#PeopleOfDonatekart: Meet Navya Regode
“My father decided to study law after my parents got married, and ever since I was a little girl, I saw him taking on pro-bono cases of daily wagers. This had a great impact on my life and affected all the choices I made. This is why I’ve always stood up for what I think is right and paved my own path, despite what everyone around me had to say.
I’ve never given up. Whether it’s moving away from home to study and work, going for sports tournaments even after being told that sports are not for girls or even making the switch from engineering to HR — I’ve always tried to do what’s best for me. But none of this has been without its fair share of challenges.
I still remember the day the entire girls’ hostel was on strike in college, and as the hostel representative, I had to be the mediator. I felt extremely helpless. And since then I’ve been in situations that have been stressful, and I’ve tried my best to manage them. But when I was working at my first job, I was diagnosed with PCOS. That’s when I realized what grave impact stress has had on me. I was lucky enough to find a good doctor who guided me through this. PCOS is so common, but not talked about enough. And it affects your mental health every day. So I started going for therapy; I knew that it was time to focus on staying healthy. And working at Donatekart has not only helped me have a work-life balance and given me purpose, but has also significantly improved my health. What better testament to the kind of amazing work culture we have here?
Through all of this, my childhood friends and my younger brother have been my constant source of support. I’ve grown up with so many of them from army backgrounds, and even though they kept moving, we always stayed in touch. I have friends from almost every corner of the country. No matter what comes my way, I know I have the best support system there is.
Today I’m still the chatterbox go-getter that I was, but I’ve also learned to take it as it comes. Sketching and painting bring me peace, and I find happiness in the little things. Even if it means just sitting in my room and listening to music with my friends.”
