According to Section 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act, one can avail tax exemption on the donations made to charitable organizations or noble causes. However, the deductions should never exceed 10% of the donor’s adjusted gross total income.

Donatekart is now giving its donors tax exemption under Section 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act. When a donor makes contributions towards a campaign on our website, they are entitled to receiving the 80G receipt. Therefore, it is essential that they know the process of availing the same.

Please be informed that only donors residing in India can employ this tax benefit. Predominantly, there are two ways one can get the 80G receipt for tax exemption from Donatekart. In the following steps, we’ll gradually reveal the entire procedure for our donors in India.

Step 1: Choose a campaign and initiate the donation

On our homepage or ‘explore campaigns’ page, select a campaign that’s closest to your heart. Adjust the number of products/ kits you’d like to donate to the cause. Thereafter, click the ‘Donate’ button and be navigated to the following page. Here you’ll have to provide your personal information such as name, phone number, and email address. Once done, click the ‘pay (amount)’ button.

Step 2: Complete the payment

Initiate the payment by entering card details as per the standard procedure. Once your payment is successful, you’ll be taken to the ‘payment success’ page.

Step 3: Click the Get 80G button

On the ‘payment success’ page, you’ll find a button called ‘Get 80G’. If you wish to avail the tax exemption on your donated amount, please click the button and be navigated to the pertaining form.

Step 4: Fill out the form and submit

Once the form page opens, fill out mandatory fields such as Address, Name (as per PAN), and PAN Card Number. Click the ‘Download 80G’ button at the bottom of the page and wait for the receipt to download.

Step 5: Save your 80G receipt

Save your 80G receipt that you’ll need at the time of filing IT returns at the end of financial year. Remember the details given in the receipt are mandatory to employ the tax exemption.

During step 3, you may not want to download the 80G receipt then and there. Hence, you can close the ‘payment success’ page and follow the steps below to get the receipt at a later date.

Alternate step 3: Open the ‘payment success’ mail

Once your payment is successfully complete, close the ‘payment success’ page immediately. In due course, you’ll receive a ‘payment success’ email from us. Open the mail.

Alternate step 4: Click ‘Get 80G’ button on email

On the ‘payment success’ email, you’ll find a button called ‘Get 80G’. Upon clicking it, you’ll be navigated to the pertaining form. Fill out all the mandatory fields such as Address, Name (as per PAN), and PAN Card Number. Subsequently, click the ‘Download 80G’ button at the bottom of the form.

Alternate step 5: Save your 80G receipt

Save your 80G receipt that is a mandatory requirement during filing the IT returns at the end of financial year.

We hope the above information is adequate for our donors to avail the tax exemption under the 80G section. In case of feedback or queries, please feel free to contact us at info@donatekart.com
