Tales of Kindness, Love, Compassion Towards The Voiceless Beings Amid Lockdown!
Everyone entered this year with new hopes, goals and dreams. But, who would’ve what that a few months down and we’d be stuck in a war, a harsh war against an invisible virus. The Corona virus brought the world to its knees, hurt millions and killed thousands of people. In these unprecedented and uncertain times, we all could use a little kindness.
More than us, the voiceless creatures who face so many struggles outside all alone need these gentle rays of hope. Maybe, this is what keeps us going. Maybe, these little moments of happiness and compassion give us strength to make it another day. If you’re feeling gloomy and sad, here are a few paw-some tales that will give you a reason to smile, today.
Warm Hearted Tales from Charlie’s Angels
#1 — A Story of Survival
Sam was brought to the CARE shelter with a massive maggot wound that covered more than half his face which had destroyed one eye completely and partially damaged the other one. The sight of him could make even the strongest of hearts shudder. But somewhere in there, there was a warrior who wanted to fight and survive to tell the tale.
With dedicated treatment and prolonged rest in our postoperative recovery cages where CARE’s team ensured utmost hygiene & care, today they can finally say that he made it. His recovery is ongoing and has also regained his eyesight partially in one eye. There is a new found confidence and a zest for life in Sam who had almost given up but rose like a phoenix, giving everyone a reason to smile.
#2 — A Sweet Victory
Sweetie, a four-year-old beautiful baby girl met with a gruesome accident that shattered her hind leg into pieces with a compound overriding fracture. She was bleeding profusely and was in an unfathomable pain.
When she came to CARE, they knew that the road to recovery would be a long, arduous one, but they made up their mind, that they were going to be with Sweetie, for better or worse. She required a major surgery, followed by cage rest. She eventually stood on her own, and her leg could finally bear the weight of her body.
Sweetie’s recovery was a sweet victory for all of us.
#3 — A Bittersweet Journey
Honey Bun’s story is a bittersweet one. The bitter part is when she was found abandoned during the lockdown right in front of the veterinary college and hospital. She had an open wound on her back and the owners had tied an old rag around her tummy to cover the wound. The sweet part was that she came to CARE, and as she healed from both the wounds to her body and mind, she touched everyone at CARE in more ways than one.
From being abandoned by people she considered as family, with a wound and at a time like the lockdown, must have been devastating to say the least.
But now she’s home. And that’s all that matters.
Tales of Courage from Animal Protection Foundation
#4 — Injuries, Yelps and a Speedy Recovery
The APF Team found a small puppy who was severely injured and wounded. These were wounds caused by larger dogs out on the roads. As they looked at the injuries, they noticed that the puppy was severely hurt and the body parts were clearly hanging out. It was a horrifying sight and wasn’t for the faint-hearted, and the puppy was in extreme pain and fear.
After a lot of cries, painful yelps and a long journey, a veterinarian treated the puppy’s wounds and prescribed antibiotics for proper rest. It’s been a while and today, he’s recovering fast and will be running around in no time.
#5 — A Baby’s Miraculous Recovery
Animal Protection Foundation often finds young puppies who’re hurt, what they saw that day on the street was nothing like they’ve seen before. A 20-day old puppy was screaming and whimpering in pain. After carefully examining the puppy, they noticed that it had a condition that caused inflammation in the eyelid. It was swollen, itchy and completely shut due to the swelling. The poor puppy was living and surviving with only one eye.
They immediately took the baby in and started the treatment, but the eye was so firmly shut that it took almost 3 days for the eye to be opened. After a proper medication, warm compression and 3 days of treatment, the puppy was able to open its eye. It’ll only be a few days till she starts playing and living normally again.

#6 — The Superhero Mother!
Late at night, we found a mother dog lying in a garbage dump on the road. It was extremely malnourished and had no milk for her babies. Her puppies were barely 3 days old and were struggling without any milk. The team immediately brought her and the litter of puppies to the shelter, they cleaned her up and started treating her.
She’ll be running around and playing with her babies in no time.

#7 — The Fantastic Four!
On a rainy morning, we found 4 puppies who were hardly 2 days old. It has just been four days since we took in 5 babies who needed to be bottle-fed. We needed help and our most dedicated foster parents came to the rescue. Their dedication, love and commitment when they fostered Popcorn, a bundle of joy earlier gave the team a lot of confidence. The team knew these parents would be perfect to take care of these puppies. The foster parents immediately agreed to take the puppies in and it was a huge sigh of relief for us. Even though it was challenging to look after the puppies, they gave their best and today these four puppies are happier than ever.

At Let’s Live Together, they decide a special genre of names for every litter they find. These fantastic pups were named Mayo, Nachos, Salsa and Taco — all the good things in life!
These few tales are among the many that our heroic NGO partners have seen out on the field. It’s not every day that we see these kind tales of compassion, love, survival and victory.
Maybe, these paw-some victories keep us going, no matter what in these tough times.
Maybe, we’re all in a different storm of our own, waiting for the clouds to clear.
Maybe, we might find our silver lining, our light at the end of the tunnel, one day.
