To sum up everything we witnessed closely & learnt from the Vijayawada trip the phrase “Generosity is Contagious” would fit right in, similar to how they say “happiness is contagious”. The inspiration one draws from a generous act is immense, I think everyone would have experienced this in their lives. Generous acts have a rippling effect.

Here’s how Donatekart’s amazing trip of Love, sharing, kindness & motivation started.

28th February— Donatekart raises donations in-kind on the platform, for poor weavers in a village near Vijayawada and sends them to the concerned NGO.

13th March — Donatekart receives a call from Vayo Vrudha Charitable trust — Vijayawada and insisted that we visit them.

16th March — Donatekart started their Journey to Vijayawada.

We were really excited about the idea & wanted to make this trip more fun and a memorable one and what’s more fun than a road-trip on bikes.

We started here on Saturday afternoon and reached Vijayawada around 9 PM

17th March — Sunday brought in lots of surprises and love. We headed to the weavers’ village, it was almost 50 km from Vijayawada and has very low access to facilities like drinking water, market, hospitals. It was really exciting & thrilling for the team to see the direct impact of the donations. People from Vayo Vruddha were great hosts, so were the villagers, they treated us like family. They were so warm & sweet, we wanted to stay longer.

But, we had another distribution event to attend in the evening, Vayo vrudha trust was distributing Groceries to 120 elders who were abandoned by their children and were struggling to put food on the plate.

Apparently, Vayo Vruddha Trust had been doing this for over 12 years now, learning about this and their other initiatives was a huge inspiration for the whole team. We learnt plenty of new things about the philanthropic space in and around Vijayawada and their team was excited to know about how donatekart operates.

And just when we thought we wrapped up for the day, we meet Mr & Ms Surendra Majety parents of Harsha Majety Founder of “Swiggy” in the same event. They briefed us about their exciting venture where they were nurturing 36 brilliant rural boys. They call it “Vidhyarthi”. It is a place unlike any center we visited in our years in philanthropic space. It is built beautifully, the dorms were very clean and they had state-of-the art infrastructure. They are looking at a holistic approach to learning than just academic excellence. They are going to observe the impact and expand as soon as possible.

This literally changed everything we knew about support shelters. It is a story worth telling to inspire others to take up such initiatives. We hope that their plans to start Vidyarthini (similar center for girls) comes to fruition soon .

18th March — From the Vijayawada trip the team came back inspired and motivated more than ever to empower people through our platform and bring a positive change in the society.

Here’s to more such trips and experiences.
