Year Roundup

2018 was filled with many acts of kindness by people like you. It was a year where together we made our world a little better.

See what magic can happen when thousands of people come together to create positive change. Here are some of our favorite moments and highlights from the year.

1)You empowered our girls

The basic hygienic facilities like sanitary napkins pads are not accessible to 88% women out of 355 million women in India. It was one of our top agendas for last year.

From the foothills of Aravalli range in Rajasthan to the government schools in the villages of Andhra Pradesh, you helped make the lives of these women easier during menstruation.

2) Disaster struck and you responded with kindness

Kerala witnessed its worst floods in a century in 2018. Along with 20 different partners, we sprung right into the action. We worked round the clock to send relief material to the victims on the ground.

We were really touched by how people from all walks of life came together for this cause — doctors, poets, artists…you name it. Everyone wanted to help in some way. Over 2 Crore worth of relief material has been donated by donors across the world in just a week time.

Around the same time, Kodagu ( Karnataka ) and Nagaland were also hit by massive floods. We also sent relief materials to these areas in partnership with a few local NGOs.

Recently, cyclone Gaja wreaked havoc and left many villages in Tamil Nadu without any electricity. Solar lamps were sent to these affected areas. During those dark and dreary nights, these lamps donated by you have brought them some much-needed warmth and comfort.

3) You helped educate our children

Education was a big focus for us in 2018. Through our campaigns, we did everything to facilitate good learning for our children. From school bags to benches, from pens to ceiling fans. You let us cover a whole gamut of educational products.

Yes-Foundation collaborated with us on various campaigns last year. They identified a cabbie, Jallaludin Gazi who rose from the pavements of Kolkata to establish three schools in remote parts of Sundarbans ensuring education for every child in the community. People donated generously and we were able to send all the supplies — stationery and groceries to Mr. Gazi’s schools.

4)You also showed concern for our animal friends

Aneesha, Sandhya, Indu, and Jayanthi were handed over to WRRC(Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center) by the forest departments of Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. These rescued elephants had been abused for years on end. Food supplies were raised on Donatekart for their day to day meals. We’re very happy to inform that Aneesha and gang are doing very well now.

We collaborated with various animal NGOs all over the country and helped save millions of innocent lives.

5) You stepped forward for sick children

With your support, we were also able to be of service to little children suffering from disorders and life-threatening diseases. From nutrition to shelter, we worked with NGOs that ensured the well-being of the child and the family during a very difficult time.

Baby Naisha was born with a cleft lip. Her father is a poor waiter in Delhi. Kind folks from around the country helped with the treatment and donated nutritional food towards this cause. Naisha today is a very healthy and normal baby.

6) You celebrated festivals with arms wide open

The festive season is a great time of bonding and abundance. Not everyone is lucky enough to experience all this goodness — for many children and aged people in shelter homes, it can be a very lonely time. We did not forget about them. We launched BigGiving days during the Daan Utsav week.

For every 2 products donated during this time, we took the spirit of giving a notch higher by donating an additional product.1800 donors donated products worth 33 lakhs, this combined with our contribution took the total value to 51 lakhs. We were able to provide food supplies and toiletries to over 25 NGOs through this effort.

During Diwali, we sent 2343 boxes of sweets to orphanages and old age homes across India.

More recently, for Christmas, we fulfilled the wishes of 3000 children from NGOs all over the country in collaboration with HDFC Bank.

With the festivities, we also welcomed winter. There are over 1.77 million homeless people in India. We raised over 20,000 blankets and saved some unnecessary suffering thanks to wonderful people like you.

We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for enabling us to create change at every level. Please stay with us on this journey of Delivering Happiness. Your support means the world to us.
